ONSIDE will hosted an exclusive session with Padraig Power (Director of Commercial and Marketing, IRFU), Martin Anayi (CEO, PRO14) and Mark Egan (Head of Competitions and Performance, World Rugby) at Leaders Week in London that examined and provided extensive business insights on the future of Rugby as a global sport, whilst looking ahead at some of the most exciting opportunities and challenges including expansion of the game to new territories and audiences.

Padraig Power (Director of Commercial and Marketing)
Padraig is Commercial and Marketing Director with the Irish Rugby Football Union since 2000. He manages the Commercial & Marketing function for the organisation which has the largest sports sponsorship portfolio in Ireland. He has overseen the growth of that portfolio to include blue chip global brands such as Vodafone, Diageo, RBS, VW, Canterbury, Aviva, PWC, Aldi, Aon, Aer Lingus, DHL. Alongside sponsorship management, he is also responsible for all areas of the marketing mix including the IRFU brand strategy and the commercial strategic development of the organisation. Prior to joining the IRFU, Padraig has held both client and agency roles as an Account Director in advertising agencies and as the Marketing Manager for the Independent Newspapers Group.


 Martin Anayi (CEO)

Martin Anayi (CEO)
Martin Anayi, CEO of PRO14 Rugby, joined the company in October 2015 having previously worked on Rugby World Cup and the FIA World Rallycross Championships during his time with WME-IMG. Most recently, Martin has played a critical role in the expansion of the Guinness PRO14 into South Africa, increasing centralised revenues and in delivering a commercial and operational strategy to ensure that the Championship is at the forefront of innovation. Prior to joining PRO14 Rugby he spent eight years as Vice President and Managing Director of the FIA World Rallycross Championships. Martin began his career within the legal profession, joining IMG in 2008 from city law firm Pennington's. Martin played semi-professional rugby in the back row for various clubs throughout his career including London Irish, Leeds Tykes 2nd team and London Welsh.

Mark Egan (Head of Competitions and Performance)
Mark Egan is Head of Competitions and Performance at World Rugby, overseeing investments in global competition and high performance initiatives. Prior to joining World Rugby, he held managemen positions with the Irish Government’s Inward Investment Agency in the Tokyo and New York offices. After graduating from Oxford University where he captained the Blues team, he worked as a Senior Project Manager in the International Business Division of Kobe Steel in Japan, where he also player for the company rugby team.  He also played for Terenure College and London Irish and achieved representative honours with Ireland U-21s, Ireland U-25s, Connaught and the Barbarians.
